Up early and we are off to Mataranka again. Its a 4 1/2 hr drive to Mataranka, so stop at Adelaide river for a toilet stop only to discover a wee market in the main street. I love my browse around some hand made goodies and purchase a few things for family and a couple of home made cakes. Then a stop at the famous Adelaide River pub! This is where Crocodile Dundee's Buffalo is, from the movie! We drive on and find a nice spot to stop for a sleep and some lunch and off we go again.
We reach Mataranka around 3pm and get ourselves setup at Mataranka Springs Tourist Park. We get changed right away and head for the springs for a wee swim. Then its down to the bar and get some dinner and to watch the show. Tonight its a singer and of course Nathan the Whip cracker! We have a great night and even spot a few wee kangaroos behind our van! Bed early for a quick getaway tomorrow.
Next morning we decide to get away early and get our breakfast on the road, someone had told us about Fran's Kitchen, saying its run by a little old lady and that its quaint. We have no idea what its going to be like but we see the sign and park the van on the side of the road and walk across. From a distance it doesn't look too bad, but as we get nearer we can see the buildings look like they are going to fall down, outside furniture looks like they got it from the tip, everything is dirty and every spare surface is covered in tacky ornaments. The tables are all dusty with a few leftovers from the previous customers remaining. As we neared a lady came out from the kitchen asking what we wanted, we said breakfast and she replied" I'm not serving breakfast as its too busy" So we took a look at her signs(she doesn't have a menu) and decided just coffee and scones would be the best choice. There were a number of other tables full of tourists, each table is different from the next with some potted plants in the middle of each, every chair is different, everyone has a smile on their face, I think they are thinking the same as us "how can this be a place selling food?" But we sit there while she orders people around, telling them where to sit and what they should order and all the time shouting instructions to her hubby in the kitchen! At long last our coffee(instant) and Scones come out. Scones are delicious, but are spread with cheap margarine an inch thick and jam, with a side serving of carrot cake, cut wafer thin. We chuckle and eat them, we better fill up as we wont be stopping for a few hours! Not the best breakfast I have ever had but put a smile on our faces!

Its full of things left by tourists, bras, hats, t-shirts, money and it all lines the wall! Then its onwards to Threeways roadhouse for the night, We got there just in time for dinner and then early to bed!
